Tribute to Greg Winslow,
On February 19, 2022 Greg Winslow a personal friend and buddy who I spent many hours hiking those wilderness trails of our Sierra Nevada Mountains took his final journey upstairs. I first met Greg in 1977 at Mono Hot Springs and at that time he was the resorts co-owner with his brother Jeff. The first hike Greg and I shared was Chamberlin Lake south of Mono at 10,000 feet in 1978. The last hike we shared was August 26, 2016 to Junction Butts to follow the San Joaquin River down-stream to Alice Lee’s Camp. These hikes were just two of the many adventures we shared. His knowledge and professional abilities in the wilderness can only be explained by addressing him as a poet. A poet has the command and knowledge of words. Greg had the command and knowledge of the back country. He loved the challenge of departing off-trail, this was his specialty. Yes; Greg you will be missed, but those adventures we shared will always be cemented into my memories.
Enjoy your new happy trails,
Tony Krizan
