Mono Hot Springs Resort Mineral Baths and Spas California Yosemite Sierra Mountains
The Mono Indians first brought white men to the Hot Springs by horseback for the beneficial effects on arthritis, rheumatism and other ailments.
The pure natural mineral hot springs water is piped into the bathhouse for the soaking tubs, showers and the spa. It is said the hot mineral water comes from a fracture so deep in the earth that it was snow about the time of Christ. When you enter the bathhouse you will be directed by an attendant to a clean private room. There are two types of tubs, a long cast iron type with claw feet and a tiled tub that is shorter and deeper. Hot mineral water temperatures range from 100 to 104 degrees. The mineral content of the water is very similiar to many hot springs in Japan and before World War II many people of Japanese decent stayed all summer taking advantage of the therapeutic benefits of the mineral hot water.
